Licensing Policy

FAQ

  Licensing and Protection, WHY
blank pic
  • This allows customers to upgrade to the latest version by downloading the latest demo.
  • We can create fully functional demos versions. We can offer limited capability licenses such as a 6-month student license for an even lower cost.
  • Sometimes a customer may not realize that each developer needs their own license.
  • Software Piracy does exist and is a problem in certain places.

  Flexibility and the Dongle option

  • The default licensing scheme locks the software to a single computer. If you need to move it to another computer you can uninstall the current version and ask us for a new license. Email us for details.
  • If you prefer, you can order the optional hardware dongle (parallel or USB) and install the compiler on as many computers as you like. The dongle is specific to the compiler (i.e. if you purchase ICC08 and ICCAVR, they would require separate dongles).
  • Institutions running multiple "seats" can also get a network dongle.
  • Remember, the dongle is optional and we sell it more or less at cost. Other companies charge $500+ for extra dongles, or treat you like a criminal when their dongle no longer works. We are a very different company.
  • If you absolutely need to run the compiler on a couple of machines, we may give you an extra unlock code.

Customers from countries with a lower salary base

  • We do understand that certain countries have a much lower salary basis than the U.S.A., and we have collaborated with distributors in those countries to offer an even lower price on our software than our already low prices. We don't think anything should be over-priced.

  "Software should not be protected!"

  • For those who still believe that no software should be protected, we urge them to try out the GNU compilers. They are free as in "Free Software" and also happen to be free as in "Free Beer".
